I will be a vendor at Choctoberfest, which will be taking place on Saturday, October 10th this year from 10 to 5.
I have a mold that's already been painted, and so now I'll be making the thin shell on the outside.
I will have samples and a booth so that you can purchase bonbons... taste a bunch of them.
I make a lot of bonbons based off desserts that I grew up with.
I'm half Chinese, half Japanese, and so I've done flavors like mango sticky rice, where I make housemade mango caramel, top it on top with some coconut ganache with like a Rice Krispie base.
Other flavors I have include flavors like black sesame, yuzu, which is a Japanese citrus or lychee.
Just all these flavors pair really well with chocolate and I love experimenting.
So Choctoberfest is one of four chocolate festivals throughout the year.
It's the second or third largest chocolate festival in the state.
It's one of my favorites, especially because you get to dress up.
They have a costume contest and it's a lot of fun.
As a vendor, one of my favorite parts of Choctoberfest is getting to interact with a bunch of my customers, seeing them taste my chocolates for the first time, and hearing how much they love it is why I do this.
And this one's passion fruit.
