Science Trek
Science Trek is a place where parents, kids, and educators can watch short, educational videos on a variety of science topics. Every Monday Science Trek releases a new video that introduces children to math, science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) career potentials in a fun, informative way.[MUSIC] JOAN CARTAN-HANSEN, HOST: Climate change is a real threat to the future of a lot of plants and animals.
Amphibians like frogs need ponds to live and as water bodies dry up, many, including the Columbia spotted frog may be in trouble.
American pikas live in cold alpine climates, but as their habitat warms, they've been moving higher up to survive.
Scientists fear temperatures may warm up to the point where pikas have no place to go.
Koala eats only eucalyptus leaves, but increasing carbon levels make the leaves less nutritious.
That may mean koalas may starve.
Coral reefs are endangered because the oceans are warming and the coral is dying off.
Extreme weather events threaten the future of monarch butterflies.
And polar bears are losing their arctic ice fields.
And that means they can't get to their primary source of food.
Scientists think about a million plants and animals species are at risk of extinction because of climate change.
