I remember falling in love with her in the 80s.

My dad introduced me to the Dolly Parton Kenny Rogers Christmas album, and I saw a picture of her and I was like, that's my girl.

I think what made her most special is that she was just incredibly generous.

But she did it without needing recognition.

She did it because she thought it was the right thing to do.

She got the chance to meet Dolly twice, once in Charlotte, North Carolina, and then later a second time in Nashville.

And she walked in and it's like the heavens just opened up.

This ray of light followed her.

I got to hug her and we got to talk for like ten minutes.

She is as real as you can imagine.

And I know they say not to meet your heroes, but I will never regret that I got to meet her.

She even had dolly themed cookies for her 40th birthday party.

Parton and her family enjoy trips to Dollywood as well.

I have a son who is on the autism spectrum, and Dollywood was the first amusement park in the world to have a sensory calming room, so I think that she just led with this beautiful grace and giving personality, and it just infiltrated everything she did.

As a little girl, she knew exactly who she wanted to be, and I think that's kind of inspiring to you to know who you want to be.

And she did it.

She made it happen for herself.

And we were lucky to have her.
