Germany’s Heligoland Island
Episode 5 | 27m 16s
Heligoland has changed hands several times between Germany, Denmark and Great Britain, and was used by Great Britain as target practice in 1947. Since then, the islanders returned and rebuilt this unique place, even making unique jewelry out of the fragments of its past that wash up on the shores daily. Except for two taxis and a police car, automobiles are verboten.
