The Change Maker Award means a lot to me.

As an entrepreneur.

Killer Mike has etched his name on the Atlanta business scene with a successful barbershop, a bustling recording studio and now a thriving community bank.

Greenwood is set up to make people individually stronger.

People that are black, brown working class in particular have become victims of banking deserts.

What I like to do is get people banking so they're individually strong financially.

Their communities are strong.

Hence the greater community will be stronger financially.

After years of being interviewed by some of the biggest names on television, Killer Mike now steps into the role of interviewer.

They say You judge a tree by the fruit it bears.

I'm the fruit of PBS.

Public Broadcasting gave me Mister Rogers Neighborhood, Sesame Street, The Electric Company.

What it gave me more than anything was the oxygen to spark the fire that is my curiosity.

And those coals are still buring today.

Love and Respect with Killer Mike premieres later this year and builds on the PBS legacy of in-depth conversations showcasing Mike's rapid curiosity, eclectic interests and a guest roster of notable names from all walks of American popular culture.

The reason I want to talk show is because I want to do a lot of talking, but I want to do more listening.

I think we've come to an impass in this country where all we're doing is arguing and I'd like to reset, sit down with people, have simple conversations and grow perspective.
